AFE 2009
Sponsors
This expedition is unique. Such an ambitious demonstration of hybrid durability and reliability has never been attempted. For this reason alone the sheer scale of this undertaking requires a large support base providing funding and equipment. Consequently, to make the expedition possible the first factor which needs to be addressed is funding. To cover the costs of this expedition the team will be looking for sponsors, in return the key (i.e. the main) sponsor will be offered a range of advertisement opportunities. Further contributors are welcome in order to supplement fundraising but less advertising opportunities can be offered.
Budget and Charities
The maximum budget for this expedition is £10,000 and the lower budget just under £6000. This figure however does not include the loan of two hybrid drive vehicles (See Budget for more details). In addition, donations are also required for the chosen charities. The team aims to raise £4,000 in total for the chosen charities, £2,000 of which will be raised by the team and we require an outside donor to match this contribution.
Advertising Opportunities
In return for sponsorship large advertisement opportunities are available. These include television, radio, internet, newspaper and magazine coverage. Televised appearances depend on negotiation between the team and the BBC and Virgin media but the companies mentioned have pledged support when the vehicles are sourced. With the manufacturer backing the expedition it may be possible to place decals of further sponsors on the body of the vehicle. However this is subject to the manufacturers’ conditions. These logos will be seen throughout 15 countries and will be photographed by both the team and the media. The team will be using a high quality digital SLR camera and a high definition video camera to document the expedition. Material will be distributed to pre-established and relevant media channels upon completion and to a certain extent during the expedition.
Equipment
The arduous terrains and climates to be experienced on this expedition provide an excellent proving ground for new technologies. The team sees this as an opportunity for equipment such as tents, cooking appliances, GPS units etc to be evaluated and on the manufacturers request feedback regarding performance may be given. On completion of the journey we will compile a Post Expedition Report (PXR) and be happy to share this with both our sponsors and charities. The team believes that to sponsor this expedition is a unique opportunity. To be associated with an expedition of this sort, with such aims, can be nothing but good publicity for any affiliated company or organisation.
